Critical Care or Intensive Care is the medical specialty that takes care of people suffering from acute, life-threatening injury or illness. The patients who are admitted to the critical care unit require a life support system and intensive monitoring of all vital signs. Further, patients are provided specialized treatment once they are transferred from the emergency room to the ICU unit.
An ophthalmologist should be consulted in case the patient experiences difficulty in vision and has symptoms such as bulging eyes, flashes of light, misaligned eyes, excessive tearing, blocked/ double/ reduced vision. In emergencies, like eye injury, sudden loss of vision, or severe eye pain, it is advised to immediately consult the eye specialist.
